Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarships (JMK)


Established in 1998 from a generous bequest by Jane M. Klausman, a member of the Zonta Club of Syracuse, New York USA, and the 1990-1995 Zonta International Parliamentarian, the Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship is awarded annually to women pursuing undergraduate or master's degrees in business management.

The program operates at the Zonta club, district and international levels. Zonta clubs provide awards for club recipients. Zonta International awards scholarships of US$1,000 each at the district level and twelve international scholarships in the amount of US$7,000 each. The Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarships are awarded annually and may be used for tuition, books or living expenses at any university, college or institution offering accredited business courses and degrees.


Women pursuing a business or business-related degree who demonstrate outstanding potential in the field are eligible.  Online students are also eligible.  Members and employees of Zonta International or the Zonta International Foundation are not eligible to apply for the Scholarships.


The Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship program operates at the club, district and international levels of Zonta International. To apply, please contact the Zonta club nearest you.  Applications recieved by Zonta clubs generally in April/May each year. Applicants must be nominated by a local Zonta club. Applications selected by Zonta clubs are sent to their respective Zonta governors. A district evaluating committee selects one applicant per district to submit to Zonta International Headquarters.  The Zonta International Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship Committee selects twelve international recipients from the district applicants.

Lisa De Croocq gets the 2016 JMK District 27 - third prize

Lisa De Croocq, 21 years old, is now pursuing a Master Degree in Business Finance at the HEC in Montréal, Canada.

She is a Bachelor, Summa cum Laude, Business Engineer from the University of Antwerp, Belgium. During her Master studies at the University of Antwerp, she spent an Exchange Program for Business at the Singapore Management University.

In addition to brilliant academic results, she is highly involved in student life, as a member of the management board of a student’s club, responsible for the sports activities. She also joined a team of private tutors to help less performing students and is a consultant for a non-profit organisation whereby students give advice to NGO’s.

Our district 27 JMK Laureate Regina Schoenberger won one of the 12 Zonta International JMK Scholarships!

In 2013, Regina Schönberger graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with distinction from Freie Universität Berlin. During her undergraduate studies, she spent an exchange year at the University of California, Berkeley, through an exchange scholarship by Freie Universität Berlin and DAAD. In Berkeley, she discovered her interest for entrepreneurship and private-sector involvement in developing countries. After her graduation, she deepened her knowledge in these areas by working for the German development agency GIZ in Berlin and Jakarta for several months. Since October 2014, Regina Schönberger is reading for the MPhil in Development Studies at the University of Oxford, as scholar of Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation (KAS). Julia Klaudia Jaskolska (Nominated by ZC Warsaw/Poland)

Having studied Material Science and Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Julia has developed a real passion for sustaining the world’s scarce resources. After graduating with a Major in Material Science and Engineering and a Minor in Management, she will go on to study Sustainable Development in Cambridge University for her Masters. Her studies in management have allowed Julia to become eligible for the Jane M. Klausmann Scholarship.
