Aleksandra Marianna Pedraszewska (Nominated by ZC of Warsaw/Poland) In May 2016, Aleksandra graduated with BA (Hons) and a top result in class from Land Economy Department at the University of Cambridge, UK. Her research on location decisions and their policy implications in the software development sector achieved a distinction and developed her interest in sustainable business models. This, combined with Aleksandra’s passion for new technologies, motivated her to apply to pursue an MPhil degree at the Cambridge Judge Business School. She started her studies in Technology Policy in September as a Cambridge Trust and Newnham College Scholar. At the Business School and in the future, Aleksandra wants to combine her passions for digital innovations, business and policy to broaden the understanding of the economics of Artificial Intelligence and its implications for the sustainable future. Winning the Jane M. Klausman Scholarship in District 27 has been an important milestone in achieving these goals. Aleksandra developed her interest in business already in high school, when she completed the MT&DC Project Management course and the Cambridge Enterprise Programme at the age of 16. She then founded an NGO aiming to fight youth unemployment, and continues to support high school students by advising applicants to British universities. Aleksandra gained practical business experience as a Global Sustainability Analyst at Rolls-Royce, having won the Female Undergraduate of the Year Award in 2015. Earlier, she had a chance to work at HBO and the venture capital fund, getting the better understanding of the CEE market. It proved crucial when she became the president of the Cambridge University Polish Society and co-organized events popularizing science and career opportunities in the country. Aleksandra is a keen volleyball player, representing the university, for which she was awarded the University Colours.
