News & Events
District 27 organizes and participates in various events. The biennial District 27 Conference and the biennial Zonta International Convention are the most well-known. We make decisive decisions and look ahead to the following years during these events. We do this in a pleasant setting, where the joy of meeting other Zontians also plays an important role.

The Zonta International Women in STEM Scholarships encourage women to pursue education, career opportunities and leadership roles in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). In 2023 Zonta District 27 selected three award winners.

Saturday, 26th November 2022 - Brussels Town Hall : BELGIAN ZONTA CLUBS of Area 01, Area 05 and Area 06, District 27, stood together and united their voices to advocate for all those who suffer gender-based violence: especially cyber violence.

ZONTA SAYS NO on 25th and 26th November 2022 in Brussels, Belgium
On 25th November the Grand Place of Brussels will colour orange this year with LED illuminations. The day after, in the town of Brussels and in the presence of many dignitaries, Area06, Area05 and Area01 will join forces by organizing a press conference as launch for the 16 days of activism ZSN - Orange your city. You will agree: The most rewarding conversations happen when the right people gather around the table!!!

Newsletter July 2022 from our Refugee Aid Coordinator Ukraine
The war in Ukraine continues. There is still no solution in sight that would guarantee the Ukrainians' right to self-determination over their country. Ukrainians continue to fight and resist the invaders. Without peace, our help is needed everywhere. Our Ukrainian members were overwhelmed by the friendship and helpfulness of the Zontians at the convention in Hamburg.

Artcraft "liberta" has been given as a present to the Ukrainian Zontians at the district dinner on Saturday 25th of June in Hamburg. The original dry point etchings have been made by Susanne Müller of e-club Germany.

Podcast with Ann Naets, District Governor 2020-2022
Ann Naets is the governor of District 27 and member of the Zonta Club Waasland in Belgium. After a long time abroad she started at Zonta to network and realized quickly how much there is still to do to enforce women's rights around the world. Ann Naets reports about the work in her crisis-ridden biennium and about the cooperation and support for Ukraine. “It is heartwarming how everybody is involved: All over the World Zontians care and donate money for the three Zonta clubs in the Ukraine. We are grateful for so much help. Money will be needed for long time.”

Zonta Club Brussel Zavel : Awards Ceremony 2022 at the City Hall of Brussels
Last April 19th, Zonta Club Brussel Zavel organized an impressive Awards Ceremony at the City Hall of Brussels. The Awards Ceremony focused on three awards targeting Young Women to disembark in leadership positions: • Young Women in Public Affairs Award (YWPA), • Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship • Zonta Zavel Encouragement Prize.

Luba Maksymovych created the center for women’s perspective in Lviv 24 years ago. The center was founded to work for women’s rights in the Ukraine. On the 2nd day of war they started to build a shelter for women and children escaping war.

Thank you for your help for Ukraine!
After 9 weeks of war, we can summarize: Our donations are needed for refugees and for medical purposes. These needs are multiple. In District 27 we have three clubs in Ukraine, all in the west: One in Uzhgorod, close to the Slovakian and Hungarian Border and 2 in Lviv situated ca. 70 km from the Polish border.
